Race #1 was sailed under changing wind conditions due to the local rain bursts. The race started with the wind direction headed down river, but then changed to variable broad reach to heading wind conditions for the downriver run. A strong rain burst created reaching conditions for the final leg to the Blue Bridge. The finish was extremely tight with first and second being a photo finish and all boats finishing within one minute of each other after gaps of about one half mile forming during the race. The traveling Cup was presented to Paul Reeder during the traditional post-race Mexican Dinner.
